I agree with your view of the accident. I actually posted something similar the following day, believe on your FB post about it. And true, if anything it is a testament to the safety of the Rimac. Thing rolled and dropped hundreds of feet and Hammond walked out.

Well, at least he has a swiss army knee now. Wouldn't be surprised if it had a bottle opener in it.

Also, the accident proved how safe electric cars actually are. Tesla's are getting 5 star ratings and after this I'm pretty sure the Concept One deserves one as well. If anything the fact that Richard made it with a minor injury should bring positive press, but the headlines of "Amazing Electric Hypercar Brings New Standards To Crash Safety" rather than "Celebrity Almost Dies In A Firey Crash" wouldn't sell as well.

Kudos for your support of Remac and Matte! We need these kind of companies to get the energy transition from fossil to sustainable energy. Electric cars can be fun! You know this :)

A couple of really good points and your theory kinda makes sense about the difference with this car vs a regular super/hypercar. I am guessing the reason is as long as you are maintaining/accelerating speed it tries to make the car do that, and when you lift off it tries to make you go slower, to a greater extent than with a gas car enginebraking, which in a corner could be devastating. I come to think about when Jeremy drove the F1 car and he explained it something like 'you gotta overcome the instinct of this is too fast cause the faster it goes the more it grips', even though that is about downforce it would make sense that this could be similar. Also Richard is a very competent driver with a deep rooted instinct, and lifting off there with a gas car would have made sense maybe.

That said i think also a lot of people think that since Rimac is a relatively unknown/small new car maker it is by default not experienced enough to make a car this awesome. That makes it 'easy' to hate on them. If it were a all new electric Lamborghini or Porsche or whatever people don't draw the first conclusion to a fail from the company.

As you say this is just speculation and i guess time will tell. Happy to see the Hamster recovering alright, makes one wonder how long he will want to keep doing this though considering his previous crash.

Really wishing I lived near Dublin, CA now. June 24th is my 21st birthday and well that track day would be an amazing way to spend it, rather than just going to the bars by myself!

Sometimes accident's happen. Richard is a licensed race car driver and the Rimac is an amazing, fully capable car. It's unfortunate that there is any negative comments going toward Rimac. Just glad Richard is okay and that the car held together till he was out.

I think he slammed on the brakes early and lost all traction, don't think it was power related. I wonder if anyone can put together an aerial shot to see how far the car traveled.

LOL... you can't talk to Matte about getting one?! You shouldn't have to ask for one, he should sell you one. You've done so much great coverage and press for Rimac.

Guys, your Point system isn't as sound as it used to be. I enter it, and nothing happens, but other times, its registers and my count goes up. Just FYI!

Thank you for your patience though, we are still finishing this whole thing up :) We're getting close though, and the system is close too! Very excited to start using this to its full potential!

I think its great that you made a video about this. It's really easy for people and media outlets to quickly jump to conclusions and make assumptions based off little information. Inaccurate information about a product this early in a company's career (especially involving a high profile celebrity) can be pretty hard, so I am glad you are trying to get the facts out there. Also, you should do an event at K1 Speed during GTCon dates! I know it can be hard to set up but a lot of people from out of town will be there (including me!). Just some food for thought.

i definitely wasnt questioning whether or not the concept one was safe, i was mainly concerned over the hamster. would be a really cool addition to the garage tho.

Yeah 100% looked like he just came in too fast, looked like it was all over starting at the slight right just before the left where he went off. Got pushed wide and not much is going to save it. I'm amazed the entire roofline is still intact after that many roll overs aswell.

I'll admit, I felt like that car was likely compensating for what it thought was Hammond's mistakes through that turn but you are right, he was going faster than he thought he could there and it's pretty obvious in his braking. Also, I still can't believe he's not dead after that crash but happy he isn't, you couldn't do that in an economy car! Imagine being the owner of that car though :( I'm sure he's not concerned about the car but it's not like you can go to the Rimac dealer and pick up a new one.

The pics that I got from the people that were there are nuts! he was really really up there! That's what blew my mind. The fact that he survived.... but even more that he just broke a knee!
